Artists of the Month - Maketo
Artist's Bio - Maketo was born in the Aeroporto neighborhood of Maputo, Mozambique during the mid 1970's. His neighborhood is renowned for producing artists and he was exposed to art from an early age. During adolescence, Maketo first became involved in painting by producing portraits of famous figures, such as Bob Marley and Michael Jackson. He then progressed to producing batiks, which are traditional paintings that use recycled denim as a make-shift canvas. Artist's Bio - Hugo Ovalle was born in the town of Cusco in 1966. He became involved in the arts at an early age and was schooled at a local art university, Escuela Superior de Bellas Artes (Superior School of Fine Arts). Ovalle's style is unique in that he works with a broad palette of colors to convey rich emotion and form through minimal complexity. Events - Exhibition at Think Gallery - NYC
The exhibition at Think Gallery at Think Coffee in New York, NY will feature three talented artists: Alfred Kimani from Kenya, Hugo Ovalle from Peru, and Maketo from Mozambique.
