About

Company Overview

ArtExtend is an online art gallery focused on identifying, promoting, and selling original artwork created by artists in the developing world. ArtExtend primarily sells original oil and acrylic paintings through our online gallery. We identify artists by spending time on the ground in developing countries and develop long term relationships with artists, galleries and art institutions. The artists who we work with range from professional artists who display their pieces in galleries to up-and-coming artists who promote their works on the street. Our online gallery offers these artists an opportunity to share their artwork with an international audience. ArtExtend also serves as a platform to market and sell artwork, providing additional income for artists who often rely on selling artwork as the primary means to support themselves and their families.

Our vision is to bridge the gap between talented artists in developing countries who lack the sales channels to sell their artwork and the international community in developed countries that seeks to purchase high quality original art at accessible prices. ArtExtend endeavors to achieve this vision through a market-based approach, which we believe is the most effective way to ensure large scale, sustainable impact in the countries we work in. We are also dedicated to supporting the development of future artists by donating 10% of profits to art-related educational programs for youth in the developing countries where we work.

Our Story

ArtExtend was founded by David Rodriguez and Daniel Anderson, who met while living and working in Mozambique. David and Daniel were inspired by the abundance of high quality artwork produced by local artists, but also discouraged by the lack of local demand for art. By developing personal relationships with local artists, they gained an understanding for the diverse and complex role that art plays in Africa. Art is a creative avenue for artists to convey the realities and cultural traditions of life in developing countries. At the same time, producing and selling art is commonly the primary means that artists employ to support their families and send their children to school. ArtExtend was founded to provide artists from developing countries a “hand up, not a hand out ”, and to share their artwork with the rest of the world.
